Retail Supervisor and Sales Representative are full occupational certificates; Entrepreneur and Quality Assurer are registered part-qualifications (a defined set of modules from the full certificate, with their own QCTO certificate).

QCTO occupational skills programmes
Shorter, credit-bearing programmes: continuous assessment during the programme, then a final integrated supervised assessment set, run and moderated by BOTI under QCTO rules and submitted to the QCTO for certification. No external exam.

Why are pre-2009 qualifications still open? Their registration ended in 2021–2023, but the Minister of Higher Education and Training has extended them under the transitional arrangements for pre-2009 qualifications (Government Gazettes 50742 of 3 June 2024, 51771 of 13 December 2024 and 54858 of 17 June 2026), and the Services SETA has confirmed BOTI’s accreditation stays valid for as long as they are open — see the accreditation and extension letter, the full explanation on our accreditations page, or download BOTI’s statement of accreditation status (PDF). The dates above are the SAQA register’s.
Three older qualifications are closed to new enrolment and continue for enrolled learners only: GETC Business Practice (61755), NC Information Technology: End User Computing (61591, MICT SETA) and NC Occupationally Directed ETD Practices (50334).
