A great course if you are building a new team, or incorporating new members into an existing team, this course covers personality aspects, personal goals, team goals and team building methods.

Teamwork And Team Building Course :Course Outline

A team is defined as a group of individuals working together as a whole to achieve certain goals. Teams can be temporary, permanent or indefinite. When individual team members share responsibility they also share their unique talents, respective knowledge and their experience in various fields with the whole group, thereby pooling their resources to achieve their goals.

Examples of different types of teams include project teams, quality improvement teams and task forces. The Traditional Team A number of traits define the traditional team; a true team has a collective grasp and goal-set amongst its members and is inter-dependent, where members will work for the benefit of not themselves, but rather of the entire team.

Self-directed Team

Productive teams will clearly differentiate between the process and the task, both of which are equally important. The Self-directed Team Self-directed teams are responsible for an entire process or a product. Work is planned and performed by the team, and the overseeing and control of numerous tasks previously handled by management will fall to these teams.

Selecting a coordinator

The teams may select a coordinator to begin the proceedings and aid the teams as they learn, but the coordinator will steadily withdraw assistance as the team members begin to work together productively.

E – Teams

The E – Team E – Teams have some of the following benefits: workers are found around the globe, shy individuals have a virtual platform on which to reach their full potential, and productivity amongst members is increased due to reduced travel time.TIP: Encouraging teamwork: Encourage continuous learning within the team and provide an appropriate environment in which to do so. Forming is the first stage of team development.

Forming

During forming the leader must have advanced leadership skills and is required to give team members an opportunity to introduce themselves, to provide an atmosphere where members gain an understanding of their team-mates and their own compatibility within the team, and to provide clear goals for the team with a stable agenda.

Storming

Team development’s second stage is known as storming. As team conflict is expected in this stage the leader must know how to address any conflict immediately and in an appropriate manner. The team leader and team members have a responsibility to the team as a whole to reduce/avoid conflict and visualize the same goals.

At this point team members begin to shoulder more responsibility, thus it is the ideal time for team leaders to step back and provide the team with task and process tools. The fourth stage is called performing.

Performing

Now team members have high levels of independence, motivation, knowledge and accuracy. Collaborative decision making takes place and there is a high level of respect in communication within the team.

Leader as mentor

By now the leader should adjust himself to the role of a mentor who can provide resources and support to the team as it completes its objectives.
