10 Soft Skills You Need
Course Introduction
Soft skills are personal skills each employee brings with them into the working environment. There are ten soft skills anyone can develop and improve which will create a better working atmosphere and increase productivity. These skills will also allow participants of the course to communicate more effectively with their co-workers. This course is essential for anyone and everyone who works in any environment, in any office, in any industry. Everybody deals with other people at work and it is an advantage for participants to know how to develop empathy, how to communicate effectively and what body language is.
Course Outline
Hard skills are the technical knowledge we bring to the workplace. However soft skills are what make the employees in the workplace manage projects effectively, lead to better job performance and allow us to relate to our co-workers. At the end of this course students will be able to understand what soft skills are and will be able to discuss their importance in the workplace. Students will also be able to use these skills and apply them successfully in the workplace. Empathy is the most important soft skill we can develop; it is the ability to identify with another’s feelings. Demonstrating empathy is a key soft skill, and along with empathy our self-awareness increases, our social awareness increases and we begin to manage relationships more successfully.
Communicating effectively will be the second skill students learn. Everybody can communicate, we can all speak, but how many of us can communicate effectively? All the other soft skills are based on our ability to communicate clearly. Students will also learn what non-verbal communication is as well as the basics of body language. Open and honest communication enhances workplace relationships and productivity. TIP: The first step in forming a team for a project is identifying each person’s capabilities. The third skill follows on from communication and it is teamwork. An effective team knows the whole process of the project, not just their part in it. Students will be able to see the bigger picture and will understand what and how flow affects their role in the team. The fourth soft skill students will learn is problem-solving.
The first step to solving a problem is identifying it. At the end of the course students will be able to apply their problem-solving skills in the workplace, they will also know how to brainstorm and find a workable solution. Having problem-solving skills enhances productivity and cultivates relationships by focusing on a shared solution. Time management is an important skill in the workplace, at the end of the course students will know how to manage their time at work productively. Students will learn how to schedule and prioritize tasks and how to minimize distractions. At the end of the course students will understand and be able to apply a positive attitude and will know how to develop a strong work ethic, this is a key soft skill because it fosters productivity and trust. Students will learn how to build trust in work relationships. At the end of the course we teach students what self-confidence is and there’s a questionnaire for students to determine their own level of self-confidence. We do not forget the importance of explaining networking to round off our course on soft skills.
