    Entrepreneurship Training: Course Outline

We welcome you to our entrepreneurship workshop. Our goal is to give you the tools and prepare you to be your own boss.

Many people have dreamed about setting up their own businesses, few have succeeded. Much failure can be blamed on poor planning. And, yes, the result of poor planning is failure in execution.

That’s where we come in. We are here to help all the potential entrepreneurs in our country, giving them a real shot at success.

In the workshop we will explain how to start a business, and how to develop a business plan. We will cover the matter of financing your business and the hiring and training of employees. At the end of the work shop you will know how to run your business and how to grow it, sustainably. But first we must get the P’s and Q’s straight. Before you enthusiastically appear at your bank manager’s door, allow us to help you get your ducks in a row. The most important thing you can do to help your aspirations along is to develop a good business plan. We discuss this in detail with pre-assignments and case study’s in the workshop.

Pro Tip: Here is a summation of what your business plan should look like.

Executive Summary: The first page of the plan should give the reader an overview of the general idea or product you have in mind. Your vision and mission statements should also be here along with information on competitors and your advantages.

Market Analysis: Your market research, information on your target market, trends and research should be in this section.

Company Description: Your business model, your SWOT analysis (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, threats), any strategic relationships you have and your business strategy.

Organizational Management: This will include the top down structure of your company, as well as the physical location of offices. It will also include the starting personnel and any security issues. Important to your organizational management is your financial management, such as business insurance and accounting.

Pro Tip: Do have an accountant from the outset. It will save you many frustrations as your business proceeds.

Sales and Marketing: Spend a little time on this while building up your business plan. You do want to have a comprehensive plan on the method of sales, the pricing, and the branding of the product or service. Networking can never be underestimated, shake as many hands as you can and build a network of business relationships. Your marketing strategy and incentives should also be included here. Social media is part and parcel of today’s new businesses, so don’t skim over social media.

Go to where your target market is and make your brand known.

Product / Service: Include an easy to understand definition of your product or service and any plans for expansion. And, of course, don’t forget…

Your Financial projections: This includes a financial projection with supporting documents such as references and legal documents.
