Scrum Fundamentals Certified (SFC) Training (1 day)

Understand how Scrum really works, take part in a Scrum team from the next sprint, and leave with the internationally recognised SFC certification.

Many teams call themselves agile without a shared idea of what that means. Work still arrives as one long plan, priorities change every week and nobody is sure who decides what. This one-day scrum fundamentals training gives complete beginners a clear, practical picture of how Scrum runs, so a team can start working in short, focused cycles with clear roles.

The course follows SCRUMstudy's SBOK Guide: why agile and Scrum work, the principles behind them, who does what – the Product Owner, the Scrum Master and the Scrum Team – and how a project moves through the five phases from initiate to release. Delegates then run a short simulated sprint, with planning, a daily stand-up, a review and a retrospective, so the ideas are tried out rather than just heard.

Scrum is not only for software. The examples cover operations, marketing, HR and projects as well as IT. At the end of the day delegates write the Scrum Fundamentals Certified (SFC) exam online, at no exam fee. The course is also the natural first step before BOTI's Scrum Master and Product Owner courses.

    Why this course

    For your organisation

    • A shared Scrum vocabulary across IT and business teams
    • Clear roles: who sets priorities, who removes blockers, who delivers
    • Staff ready to join or pilot a Scrum team straight away
    • An internationally recognised credential with no exam fee

    For your delegates

    • A plain-language grounding in agile and Scrum – no experience needed
    • Hands-on practice in a simulated sprint
    • The SFC certification, written on the day
    • A clear view of the next step: Scrum Master or Product Owner

What delegates will be able to do

    • Explain what agile means and how Scrum differs from traditional plan-driven delivery
    • Describe the Scrum principles, including empirical process control, value-based prioritisation and time-boxing
    • Distinguish the responsibilities of the Product Owner, the Scrum Master and the Scrum Team
    • Follow a Scrum project through the five phases from initiate to release
    • Write simple user stories and take part in sprint planning and the daily stand-up
    • Contribute usefully to a sprint review and a retrospective
    • Sit the Scrum Fundamentals Certified (SFC) exam with confidence

    Who should attend

Anyone new to agile or Scrum: team members, project staff, managers and business owners who want a solid, practical foundation, whether they work in IT, operations, marketing, HR or projects. No prior experience is needed, which makes the course a good choice for whole-team rollouts before a Scrum pilot.
