SETA Qualifications

These are National Certificates and Further Education and Training Certificates from the pre-2009 SETA framework, built from unit standards, in generic management, business administration and new venture creation. They suit employers who want to put supervisors, junior managers, administrators or aspiring business owners through a full, credit-bearing qualification while these qualifications remain open.
BOTI is accredited by the Services SETA (accreditation 12582) to deliver all eight. They remain open to new enrolment under the Minister's transitional arrangements for pre-2009 qualifications: until 30 June 2028, and until 30 June 2027 for the Further Education and Training Certificate: New Venture Creation. Each runs for 24 to 30 contact days, in-house at your premises, at our venue in Sunningdale, Johannesburg, or online.

Frequently asked questions
Why are these older qualifications still open?
Their registration periods ended between 2021 and 2023, but the Minister of Higher Education and Training extended them under the transitional arrangements for pre-2009 qualifications, and the Services SETA confirmed that providers' accreditation, including BOTI's accreditation 12582, stays valid in line with the gazetted dates. The SAQA register shows the current dates.
What happens after the enrol-by date?
No new learners can be registered after 30 June 2028 (30 June 2027 for the Further Education and Training Certificate: New Venture Creation). Learners enrolled by then have until 30 June 2031 to complete (30 June 2030 for New Venture Creation).
How do these compare with the QCTO occupational certificates?
These qualifications are made up of unit standards and belong to the older SETA framework. QCTO occupational certificates are the newer standard, built around an occupation, with knowledge, practical and work experience modules and an external final assessment. Where both exist for a role, we will help you choose.
Can you run them in-house for our staff?
Yes. We run the contact days at your premises, at our venue in Sunningdale, Johannesburg, or online, and can schedule them around your operations.
Tell us your team's goal and we will recommend the course
Call BOTI on 011 882 8853 or email [email protected]. Tell us the roles, the number of learners and your timeline, and we will recommend the right qualification and make sure your group is enrolled before its closing date.
