Occupational Certificate: Office Supervisor (SAQA I.D. 118740; NQF Level 5; Credits: 240)
Office supervisors who plan, organise, lead and control their office – recruitment, scheduling, coaching, conflict, compliance and financial controls – to a national standard.
The step from good administrator to supervisor is where many offices lose their best people. Promoted for their accuracy, new supervisors are suddenly expected to schedule work, coach staff, handle conflict and keep the office compliant, usually with no training at all. The Occupational Certificate: Office Supervisor (SAQA ID 118740, NQF Level 5, 240 credits) is the office supervisor qualification built for that step.
Office supervisors plan, organise, lead and control the functions of an office, and are usually the first level of management for personnel clerks, filing clerks and data capturers. The qualification builds on office administration and adds the management practice a supervisor needs. It is registered on the Occupational Qualifications Sub-framework (curriculum 334101-000-00-00), with the Services SETA as Development Quality Partner. BOTI delivers the knowledge modules (75 credits) and practical skill modules (75 credits) in 25 contact days of facilitated training. The work experience modules (90 credits) are completed in the learner's own workplace: supporting recruitment and discipline, scheduling work inside and outside the department, coaching the team, resolving conflict and running the office's internal and financial controls.
Enrol by 31 December 2026. The qualification's registration ended on 31 December 2025 and it is in teach-out: learners enrolled by then have until 31 December 2029 to complete and be awarded it. BOTI remains accredited to deliver it.
