Lync 365 Essentials Course: Introduction
This is an indispensable program for members of the same team in a company, it was specifically developed to ‘Lync’ team members and information to each other.
Lync 365 Essentials Course :Course Outline
This is an application which is indispensable in todays business world. Lync is a Microsoft application specialising in online communications software. It is an essential program for teams in the same company, remote teams and mixed teams. It is also an efficient tool for managers. It allows for instant messaging, audio and video calls, online meetings and sharing your desktop. Needless to say the workshop we present on Lync 365 is a practical workshop where participants will have the opportunity to practice what they learn on computers. As always we include our pre workshop review form for participants to fill in so that the trainer has an idea of what participants already know and what theyre interested in learning. Some of our workshop objectives are: Signing into Lync online; setting up Lync to start automatically; creating Lync profiles; creating and building a contacts list; enabling privacy mode; sending instant messages; understanding organizer and presenter best practices; opening a whiteboard and making a Lync online call. The contacts list should include people the Lync user contacts frequently, contacts can be added from within and outside the company. Contacts can also be tagged or pinned. Groups can be created by the user and it is advisable to do this as the level of sharing information and the presence indicated by the user differs from group to group. A federated contact is a contact outside the company whom the user adds to their contact list. The Presence Indicators are symbols that help the user determine the availability of other contacts and vice versa the users own availability. On a busy morning it is wise to take ten seconds and change your status to busy. The privacy relationships allow the user to hide information they dont want others to know such as their phone number and location.TIP: Note that contacts from your work group can interrupt you even when your status is set to Busy or Do Not Disturb. You can turn off these alerts on the Options window by clicking on the Alerts tab, click on Do Not Display Alerts. Instant Messaging is the ability to send real time messages to another person. To start a conversation simply double-click on the person or select IM on the contact card. The same message can be sent to everyone in that group. We will teach participants how to accept or ignore an instant message, how to invite other contacts to a conversation and how to use emoticons. A feature of IM is online meetings which can be scheduled or unscheduled meetings. Participants will be shown how to begin an unscheduled meeting, how to schedule a meeting, how to allow access for various groups and then we have a comprehensive section on organizer and presenter best practices which is basically etiquette for IM. We spend a module working with the Lync online Scheduler and then move on to PowerPoint presentations, in this module participants will learn how to upload and present the presentation. We round off our workshop with sharing your desktop; collaborating on a whiteboard and using audio and video and online calls. 1. Introduction
