Occupational Skills Programme: Project Management Facilitator (Project Management for Non-Project Managers) – SP-250710
Managers and professionals who scope, schedule, cost and control projects properly alongside their day job – with a QCTO certificate at NQF Level 6.
Most projects in an organisation are run by people whose job title is not 'project manager': department heads, engineers, HR and finance staff, team leaders. The QCTO programme document notes that many projects run into delays, budget overruns and quality problems. This accredited project management course – the Occupational Skills Programme: Project Management Facilitator (Project Management for Non-Project Managers), SP-250710, NQF Level 6, 60 credits – gives them the discipline of project management without the jargon.
Learners define and control scope, build a realistic timeline, estimate and control cost, manage quality, and keep delivery on track. They plan a project schedule in project management software such as Microsoft Project, track it with earned value, and practise the facilitation skills that keep stakeholders, team members and leadership aligned. As a Project Management Facilitator, the learner becomes the central point of contact who helps the team plan objectives, milestones and deliverables, fits project work into normal operations, and follows progress, risks and issues through to a post-project evaluation.
The programme was developed with the Services SETA as Quality Partner. It runs over ten contact days, ideally in two-day blocks with a real project between sessions, and ends in a four-hour written case-study assessment set, run and moderated by BOTI under QCTO rules.

How it is delivered
Ten contact days, 08:30-16:00. BOTI recommends five two-day blocks over about ten weeks, so learners apply each block to a real project between sessions; the programme can also run on consecutive days. The four-hour final assessment is written on the last day. There is no work-experience module. Practical work uses project management software such as Microsoft Project; laptops with the software can be supplied on request. Training runs at your offices anywhere in South Africa, at BOTI's venue in Sunningdale, Johannesburg, or live online, for one learner or a group of up to 20. Learner material is provided.

How is it assessed?
Continuously through quizzes, assignments, tests, scenarios and role-play, with a formal assessment at the end of each module. The final assessment is a written case study of up to four hours, marked out of 200; learners need 70% to be declared competent.
Do staff have to be away for ten days in a row?
No. We recommend five two-day blocks over about ten weeks, with a real project between sessions; consecutive days are also possible.
How does it relate to BOTI's other project management training?
BOTI's Occupational Certificate: Project Manager (SAQA 101869) closes to new enrolment on 30 December 2026; this skills programme stays open until 11 July 2031. For teams that do not need a QCTO credential, the non-accredited Project Management Course and Project Management Fundamentals Course give delegates a BOTI certificate of attendance.
Can credits count towards a qualification later?
Credits can accumulate towards a relevant full or part qualification. The programme document links it to the Higher Occupational Certificate: Project Administrator (NQF 5) and the Advanced Occupational Diploma: Project Manager (NQF 7), which do not yet have SAQA IDs.
