QCTO Skills Programmes

QCTO skills programmes are short, credit-bearing programmes registered with the Quality Council for Trades and Occupations. Each one builds a defined set of occupational skills, from running disciplinary hearings and managing conflict to assessing learners, running time studies or preparing young people for work. They suit organisations that want a recognised QCTO certificate and NQF credits for their staff without committing to a full qualification.
BOTI is accredited by the QCTO to deliver the eleven programmes below. They run for 3 to 15 contact days, in-house at your premises, at our venue in Sunningdale, Johannesburg, or online; three of them add a period of work in the learner's own workplace. Learners are assessed continuously during the programme and finish with a Final Integrated Supervised Assessment (FISA), set, run and moderated by BOTI under QCTO rules. Results are submitted to the QCTO, and the QCTO, not BOTI, issues the certificate.

How accreditation works
BOTI is a QCTO-accredited Skills Development Provider for every programme on this page; the accreditation letters are on our accreditations page. The final assessment of a skills programme is a Final Integrated Supervised Assessment, set, run and moderated by BOTI under QCTO rules, and the QCTO issues the certificate.
Need a full qualification? See QCTO Occupational Certificates. Every accredited programme, with its enrol-by date, is listed on Accredited Training.

Frequently asked questions
How is a skills programme different from an occupational certificate?
A skills programme is shorter and covers one set of occupational skills, so it takes days or weeks rather than months. It ends in a Final Integrated Supervised Assessment run by BOTI, while an occupational certificate ends in an External Integrated Summative Assessment through a QCTO Assessment Quality Partner. In both cases the QCTO issues the certificate.
Who issues the certificate?
The QCTO. BOTI assesses the learners, submits the results, and the QCTO certifies the learners found competent.
Can you run a programme in-house for our team?
Yes. We run the contact days at your premises, at our venue in Sunningdale, Johannesburg, or online. For Assessment Practitioner, Workplace-Based Practitioner and Workplace Essential Skills, learners also need a workplace in which to complete their practical period.
Do learners need prior qualifications?
It depends on the programme. Several have no formal entry requirement; others ask for a qualification at NQF Level 1, 3 or 4, or for relevant work experience. Each programme page lists its entry requirements.
