Training Advice
Writing a Winning Tender (Unit Standards 119459 + 114593) (3 days)
Business owners and bid writers who write clear, convincing documents, find and assess the right tenders, cost them for profit and submit complete, accurate bids on time – with 10 accredited credits.
A winning tender needs two things: sound numbers and writing that convinces the evaluator. This accredited tender writing course combines two unit standards, each taught and assessed on its own: unit standard 119459 on writing and presenting for a wide range of contexts (NQF Level 4, 5 credits) and unit standard 114593 on tendering to secure business for a new venture (NQF Level 4, 5 credits). Both form part of the FETC: New Venture Creation (SAQA ID 66249), which BOTI delivers under its Services SETA accreditation.
Day one follows unit standard 119459: writing factual and persuasive texts with a clear purpose, choosing the right voice and register, building an argument that leads to a firm conclusion, using style and rhetoric to strengthen meaning, and editing for flow, accuracy and impact.
Days two and three follow unit standard 114593: finding tender opportunities online, in print and in new markets, judging which tenders suit the business and its capacity, calculating costs, prices, mark-up and break-even, weighing suppliers and competitors, and completing the documents accurately and on time.
