Training Advice
Business Calculations and Cash Handling (Unit Standards 7469 + 14353) (2 days)
Staff who budget sensibly, understand what interest does to savings and debt, and handle receipts, petty cash and bank deposits correctly and securely – with 5 accredited credits.
Cash and payments are where small errors quickly become real losses. This accredited cash handling course combines two unit standards, each taught and assessed on its own: unit standard 7469, a fundamental mathematics unit standard on the money side of personal and community life (NQF Level 2, 2 credits), and unit standard 14353 on basic financial transactions (NQF Level 2, 3 credits). Both are part of the National Certificate: Business Administration Services (SAQA ID 23833), and BOTI delivers them under its Services SETA accreditation.
Day one follows unit standard 7469: drawing up a realistic household or small-business budget, recording what actually comes in and goes out, explaining the differences, and working out simple and compound interest on savings, stokvels and loans, and the effect of inflation and of assets gaining or losing value.
Day two follows unit standard 14353: receiving and receipting payments and keeping the money safe, using a petty cash system to buy office items, and preparing, checking and making bank deposits. Delegates practise with real forms, receipt books and deposit slips.
