Tendering for Business (Unit Standard 114593) (2 days)

Small-business owners and new-venture staff who find the right tenders, judge whether they can deliver, price them to make a profit and submit complete, accurate bids on time – with 5 accredited credits.

Tenders open doors to government and corporate work, but many small businesses lose money on the tenders they win or are disqualified on paperwork. This accredited tender training course covers unit standard 114593 (NQF Level 4, 5 credits), part of the Further Education and Training Certificate: New Venture Creation (SAQA ID 66249), which BOTI delivers under its Services SETA accreditation.

Day one is about finding and choosing the right tenders: online portals, newspapers and other sources of tender opportunities, researching new markets, and then reading tender documents to decide whether a tender suits the business, how bids must be presented and submitted, and whether the business has the capacity and people to deliver.

Day two turns to the numbers and the paperwork: choosing a costing method, calculating costs, prices, mark-up and the break-even point, weighing internal and external factors, suppliers and competitors, and then completing, checking and submitting the tender documents before the closing date and time. Delegates work on a real or sample tender throughout.
