Training Advice
Promoting Innovation (Unit Standard 252020) (2 days)
Managers who know what holds innovation back in their unit, use proven creativity techniques with their teams, and put a plan in place so that good ideas become better processes, projects and products – with 6 accredited credits.
Most organisations say they want new ideas, yet many units quietly discourage them: mistakes are punished, questions are unwelcome and nobody has time to experiment. This accredited innovation training course covers unit standard 252020 (NQF Level 5, 6 credits), a core unit standard of the National Certificate: Generic Management (SAQA ID 59201), which BOTI delivers under its Services SETA accreditation.
Day one starts with an honest look at each delegate's own unit: how open it is to questions, risk and learning from failure, and where it needs to change. Delegates then work with recognised creativity techniques, such as brainstorming and mind mapping, and practise each one on real workplace examples.
Day two turns insight into action. Delegates draw up a plan for a unit that supports innovation, covering their own role, resources, rewards and risks, and learn how to win the team's commitment to it. They then lead a team through a full creative thinking session, from generating ideas to choosing the best option and writing up a concept that is ready to implement.
