Training Advice
Recruiting and Selecting Staff (Unit Standard 12140) (3 days)
Managers and HR practitioners who plan recruitment properly, attract and screen the right applicants, and select and appoint people they can justify on evidence and within the law – with 9 accredited credits.
A poor appointment costs far more than the time it takes to fill a post properly. This accredited recruitment and selection course covers unit standard 12140 (NQF Level 5, 9 credits), an elective in the National Certificate: Generic Management (SAQA ID 59201), which BOTI delivers under its Services SETA accreditation.
Day one is the planning stage: gathering complete information about the position, choosing a selection procedure that is valid, fair and legally sound, setting selection criteria that avoid bias, and budgeting for the resources and recruitment methods the post needs.
Day two covers recruiting: running the campaign, handling responses, screening out unsuitable applicants early, managing the applicant database within the law and adjusting the plan when responses are poor. Day three is selection: verifying backgrounds and qualifications, assessing and interviewing candidates, drawing up a justified shortlist, giving feedback tactfully and keeping accurate records of the appointment.
