Events, Travel and Bookings (Unit Standards 13929 + 7706) (2 days)

Administrators who organise meetings, small events and business travel without last-minute surprises, and who run a booking system that keeps customers informed and confirmed – with 6 accredited credits.

Every function, workshop and business trip depends on someone who gets the dates, venues, catering, travel and paperwork right. This accredited event coordination course combines two unit standards at NQF Level 3, each taught and assessed on its own: unit standard 13929 on coordinating meetings, minor events and travel (3 credits) and unit standard 7706 on maintaining a booking system (3 credits). Both are part of the National Certificate: Business Administration Services (SAQA ID 67465), and 13929 also forms part of the FETC: Business Administration Services (SAQA ID 61595) and the National Certificate: New Venture Creation (SMME) (SAQA ID 49648). BOTI delivers them under its Services SETA accreditation.

Day one follows unit standard 13929: agreeing a date and venue with attendees, booking the venue and caterers with dietary and religious needs in mind, arranging flights, car hire and accommodation, processing the invoices, and getting every document to the attendees in time.

Day two follows unit standard 7706 from the side of the venue or establishment: answering enquiries accurately, checking availability and offering alternatives, recording and confirming bookings, taking deposits to guard against no-shows, handling changes, system failures and wrong cancellations, and keeping other departments informed.
