Professional Conduct and Ethics (Unit Standards 14359 + 113924) (3 days)

Staff who dress, speak and behave professionally, read body language, welcome visitors well, and act honestly and ethically when their values and work practice clash – with 7 accredited credits.

First impressions, punctuality and honesty shape how customers and colleagues see an organisation. This accredited workplace professionalism training combines two unit standards, each taught and assessed on its own: unit standard 14359 on professional behaviour in a business environment (NQF Level 2, 5 credits), part of the National Certificate: Business Administration Services (NQF Level 2, SAQA ID 23833), and unit standard 113924 on basic business ethics at work (NQF Level 2, 2 credits), part of the National Certificate: New Venture Creation (SMME) (SAQA ID 49648). BOTI delivers both under its Services SETA accreditation.

Days one and two follow unit standard 14359: dress code, working hours, attitude, keeping colleagues informed, listening and the company code of conduct; reading and using body language, handshakes and personal space, and recognising sexual harassment; meeting and greeting visitors; and the basics of ethics in the delegate's own workplace.

Day three follows unit standard 113924: where personal values and beliefs come from, how one person's ethics affect others, behaving ethically with gifts, confidentiality and company policy, and practical ways to respond when one's own values clash with what happens at work.
