Emotional Intelligence at Work (Unit Standards 252031 + 252027) (3 days)
Managers who understand their own emotional intelligence and use it to build strong relationships with their own managers, peers, stakeholders and teams – with 10 accredited credits.
Technical skill gets people promoted; emotional intelligence decides how well they lead once they are there. This accredited emotional intelligence course combines two unit standards, each taught and assessed on its own: unit standard 252031 on applying emotional intelligence to managing self and others (NQF Level 5, 4 credits), held under BOTI's own Services SETA programme approval, and unit standard 252027 on building and keeping workplace relationships (NQF Level 5, 6 credits), part of the National Certificate: Generic Management (SAQA ID 59201).
Day one follows unit standard 252031: the principles and concepts of emotional intelligence, its role in how we manage ourselves and relate to others, its effect on work and life, and an honest look at each delegate's own strengths and development areas.
Days two and three follow unit standard 252027: networking with stakeholders, working constructively with one's own managers, recognising and reducing conflict in a unit, and building commitment within the team.
