Training Advice
SCRUMstudy Agile Master Certified (SAMC) Training (3 days)
Know the main agile methods well enough to compare them, choose the right one for each team or project, and tailor it – with the SAMC certification to show for it.
Scrum is the best-known agile method, but it is not the only one, and it does not suit every team or project. Organisations that copy one framework everywhere often end up with ceremonies that add little value. This three-day agile training course gives practitioners and managers a working knowledge of the main agile methods, so they can compare them and choose – or combine – the right approach for the work in front of them.
Day one sets the foundation: where agile came from, the Agile Manifesto, and three of the most widely used approaches – Scrum, Lean and Kanban. Day two covers the engineering and delivery methods: Extreme Programming (XP), Test-Driven Development, Crystal, the Dynamic Systems Development Method (DSDM) with MoSCoW and time-boxing, and Feature-Driven Development. Day three adds Adaptive Software Development, the Agile Unified Process and Domain-Driven Design, then puts the methods side by side: hybrid approaches, agile outside IT, and the pitfalls that derail adoption.
Case scenarios on day three ask delegates to match methods to real situations. The SCRUMstudy Agile Master Certified (SAMC) exam is written online at the end of day three, and the exam voucher is included in the course price.

- Apply MoSCoW prioritisation and time-boxing as used in DSDM
- Outline the Crystal family, Feature-Driven Development, Adaptive Software Development, the Agile Unified Process and Domain-Driven Design

Who should attend
Agile practitioners, Scrum Masters, project and delivery managers who want a broad working knowledge of agile across more than one method, and leaders who are deciding how agile should be applied in their organisation. SCRUMstudy says a Scrum Master (SMC) or similar Scrum background makes the course easier.

Frequently asked questions
Is the SAMC exam included?
Yes. The exam voucher is included in the course price. The exam is written online at the end of day three: 100 multiple-choice questions in 120 minutes, with no negative marking.
Do delegates need to know Scrum first?
It helps. SCRUMstudy says a Scrum Master (SMC) or similar Scrum background makes the course easier, so delegates new to agile may prefer to start with Scrum Fundamentals Certified (1 day) or Scrum Master Certified (2 days).
Can you run it at our offices, and for how many people?
Yes. We train at your premises anywhere in South Africa, at a BOTI venue or live online, for one delegate or a group of up to 20.
Is it accredited?
No – it is a non-accredited short course. Delegates receive a BOTI certificate of attendance and, if they pass, the international SAMC certification.
How is this different from the Scrum courses?
The Scrum courses go deep into one framework. Agile Master Certified goes wide: it compares Scrum with Lean, Kanban, XP, DSDM, Crystal, FDD and other methods so you can choose and tailor the right one.
Can you run this course in Johannesburg, Cape Town or Durban?
Yes. We train on site at your offices in Johannesburg, Pretoria, Durban, Cape Town and across South Africa, at a BOTI venue in Johannesburg, or live online so a team spread over several offices can attend together.
