Training Advice
Workplace Writing and Meetings (Unit Standards 119465 + 242816) (3 days)
Staff who write workplace texts that suit the reader and the purpose, edit their own drafts with confidence, and prepare, chair and follow up a structured meeting – with 10 accredited credits.
Much of the work in an office is done in writing and in meetings, and both waste time when they are poorly prepared. This accredited workplace writing course combines two unit standards from the FETC: Generic Management (SAQA ID 57712), each taught and assessed on its own: unit standard 119465 on writing and presenting texts for different purposes (NQF Level 3, 5 credits) and unit standard 242816 on conducting a structured meeting (NQF Level 4, 5 credits). Because both belong to the same qualification, BOTI registers them together as one skills programme under its Services SETA accreditation.
Days one and two follow unit standard 119465: writing for a particular reader, purpose and context, using language that holds a text together, and drafting and editing your own writing, with practice on real workplace texts.
Day three follows unit standard 242816: preparing for a meeting, conducting it, handling differing views, and distributing the meeting records afterwards.
