Training Advice
Decision Making and Time Management (Unit Standards 9015 + 15234) (3 days)
Managers and supervisors who collect and question data before they decide, use probability to weigh up options, and plan their department's time so the important work gets done – with 10 accredited credits.
Good decisions rest on sound information, and good plans protect the time needed to act on them. This accredited decision making course combines two unit standards from the FETC: Business Administration Services (SAQA ID 61595), each taught and assessed on its own: unit standard 9015 on using statistics and probability to examine and explain real-life problems (NQF Level 4, 6 credits) and unit standard 15234 on managing time efficiently across a department (NQF Level 5, 4 credits). Because both belong to the same qualification, BOTI registers them together as one skills programme under its Services SETA accreditation.
Days one and two follow unit standard 9015: deciding which questions data can answer, collecting and presenting data without distorting it, building simple probability models, and questioning statistics for bias and weak assumptions before a decision is made.
Day three follows unit standard 15234: time-management profiles, the principles of time management, and work plans that save time for the whole section.
Why this course
For your organisation
- Decisions based on evidence rather than opinion
- Fewer costly mistakes from misleading figures
- Departments that plan their time and meet deadlines
- Ten accredited credits registered as one skills programme
For your delegates
- Ten accredited credits from two unit standards in one qualification
- Practical skills with data, charts and probability
- A way to test statistics before trusting them
- Tools to plan your own and your team's time
What delegates will be able to do
- Identify workplace questions that data can answer
- Collect, organise and present data honestly

- Draw up work plans that save time
Who should attend
Supervisors, section heads, team leaders and administrators who make decisions from figures and plan their unit's work. Unit standard 9015 assumes mathematical literacy and communication at NQF Level 3. Unit standard 15234 assumes an FETC, or communication and mathematical literacy at NQF Level 4.

Frequently asked questions
Is this course accredited?
Yes. It covers unit standards 9015 (NQF Level 4, 6 credits) and 15234 (NQF Level 5, 4 credits). Both belong to the FETC: Business Administration Services (SAQA ID 61595), so they are registered together as one skills programme under BOTI's Services SETA accreditation (12582).
Until when can delegates enrol?
Delegates can enrol until 30 June 2028.
Are there entry requirements?
Unit standard 9015 assumes mathematical literacy and communication at NQF Level 3; unit standard 15234 assumes an FETC, or communication and mathematical literacy at NQF Level 4.
How are delegates assessed?
Each unit standard has its own portfolio of evidence, completed after the course and then assessed and moderated. Delegates found competent receive a statement of results.
Is there a shorter version without assessment?
Yes. Problem Solving and Decision Making and Essential Time Management Skills cover the practical skills, with a BOTI certificate of attendance.
