Conflict management training and why you need it

Conflict in the workplace is just as common as conflict in the open living area if not more common. The thing about people is we clash, even more so if we spend large amounts of time together. When large groups of people are in the same area for long chances are they’re going to clash. That’s usually an inevitability that’s unavoidable. However, the way you react to it and deal with this clash could be the deciding factor in if you’ll be able to keep both parties part of your company or have to ask one of them or both of them to leave. The issue with this is that you could lose or more of your better trained workers through something completely unrelated to work and completely avoidable.

The first important trick you’ll most probably learn in conflict management training is the art of ‘collaborating’. This is having both the parties get what they want from the conflict. This is very hard and needs both parties to learn how to make compromises and thereby find a middle ground they could both agree on. This seems a lot harder than it is because the reason people don’t find middle grounds easily when they start arguing is because when emotions take over and people start making it personal all logic seems to leave the scene. If you can get both parties to calm down and start analyzing the source of the conflict in a logical manner a middle ground is more often than not found quite quickly.

Another thing you might learn in conflict management training is that being forceful will never work out in your favour. If you want to diffuse a situation between two people the best way to do so is in a gentle manner. By doing this you’ll be able to have them both see you as a neutral party and not as a third aggressive party. Having both parties seeing you as a non-violent and approachable party is the only way you’ll be able to sort this issue out. This is something that is well within your reach and if you’d like to keep all members of a conflicted event in your company then good conflict management training is your only answer.
