National Certificate: New Venture Creation (SMME) (NQF Level 2)
Potential and existing entrepreneurs gain a nationally recognised NQF Level 2 qualification and the basics to start and run a sustainable small business.
The future of South Africa's economy does not lie only in the formal sector: small, micro and medium enterprises, including informal businesses, are a growing part of it, and many fail for lack of basic business skills. This new venture creation SMME qualification – the National Certificate: New Venture Creation (SMME), SAQA ID 49648, NQF Level 2, 138 credits – gives potential and existing entrepreneurs a structured foundation for starting and growing a sustainable business that is part of the mainstream economy.
BOTI delivers it as 30 contact days over 12 months. Core unit standards cover entrepreneurial ideas and opportunities, matching an opportunity to market needs, the venture's industry and its procurement systems, financial requirements, a business plan, business operations, marketing and selling, managing finances, business ethics, customer service and professional behaviour. Fundamentals build communication and mathematical literacy, and electives include tendering, contract administration, team performance, meetings and office equipment.
BOTI delivers the qualification under its Services SETA accreditation (12582), and new enrolments are open until 30 June 2028.
