Project Management Training in Cape Town

BOTI’s project management training in Cape Town teaches your team to scope, plan, schedule, budget and control projects from start to close. It is delivered in-house at your premises anywhere in the Mother City, from the CBD and Century City to Bellville and Claremont, or live online. Choose from 1- to 3-day short courses in BOTI’s project management, agile and process improvement courses.

Because the course comes to you, your staff learn the planning, scheduling and risk skills they need without leaving the office, and the examples are tailored to your projects, your sector and your people. Call 011 882 8853 or request a quote.

On-site training at your premises across Cape Town

We come to you. Rather than sending staff to a public course one at a time, BOTI delivers the full course to your team at your offices, anywhere in the Cape Town metro:

  • Cape Town CBD: head offices, financial services firms and professional practices around the Foreshore and city centre.
  • Century City: corporate parks, insurers, financial services and BPO operations off the N1.
  • Bellville and the Northern Suburbs: manufacturing, logistics, healthcare and the Tyger Valley business node.
  • Claremont and the Southern Suburbs: finance, property, retail head offices and technology businesses.

In-house delivery gives the whole team one consistent standard, with real examples drawn from your actual projects and no travel time or per-seat venue costs. For staff split across the Western Cape or working from home, BOTI also delivers the course live online. Groups that prefer a neutral space can train at BOTI’s venue in Sunningdale, Johannesburg.

Why Cape Town teams need project management skills

Cape Town’s economy is built on sectors where projects carry real deadlines and real costs. That shows up in the kind of work local teams deliver:

  • Finance and insurance: asset management, insurance and fintech businesses run regulatory, system and product projects that must land on time and on budget.
  • Tech and BPO: software, e-commerce and contact-centre operations work to sprint deadlines, client rollouts and tight change control.
  • Tourism and hospitality: seasonal demand means events, refurbishments and launches that have to be finished before peak season.
  • The wider Western Cape corporate base: retail head offices, property, agri-processing and the public sector all depend on staff who can scope, schedule and close projects properly.

When projects in these sectors run late, the cost shows up quickly in overtime, penalties and unhappy clients. A shared, practical project method across the team is a sensible way to protect margins and reputation.

What the course teaches

This is a hands-on programme that takes delegates from initiating a project through to closing it out. Core content includes:

  • Project initiation: defining scope, objectives, deliverables and a business case
  • Planning and scheduling: work breakdown structures, milestones, Gantt charts and critical path
  • Budgeting and resourcing: estimating cost and effort, and allocating people realistically
  • Risk and issue management: identifying, rating and mitigating risks before they cause delays
  • Stakeholder communication: reporting, meetings and managing expectations
  • Monitoring and control: tracking progress, managing change and keeping projects on track
  • Project closure: handover, sign-off and lessons learned

We adapt the examples and case work to your industry, so a Century City insurer and a Bellville manufacturer each leave with something they can use on Monday.

BOTI offers several course lengths:

Teams that want to build their Gantt charts in software can add Microsoft Project Essentials to Advanced. Teams working in sprints can add Scrum Fundamentals Certified (SFC) Training.

Who should attend

Role Why it helps
New and aspiring project managers A solid, structured foundation in the full project lifecycle
Team leaders and supervisors Tools to plan and deliver work without slipping deadlines
Coordinators and administrators Confidence with schedules, budgets and progress reporting
Technical specialists moving into PM Translate technical skill into managed, delivered projects
Business owners and managers A common project language across the whole team

No prior qualification is required for the short courses, so they suit a mixed-experience team trained in one sitting.

Accreditation

The project management short courses on this page are professional skills programmes, and delegates receive a BOTI certificate of attendance. If you need an accredited outcome for compliance, reporting or your Workplace Skills Plan, BOTI is a QCTO-accredited Skills Development Provider for the Occupational Certificate: Project Manager (SAQA ID 101869, NQF Level 5, 240 credits)[1]. This occupational certificate ends in an External Integrated Summative Assessment (EISA), and the QCTO issues the certificate. Tell us when you request your quote and we will confirm the accredited route for your Cape Town group.

Last dates for new enrolments: for the Project Manager certificate (SAQA ID 101869), new learners must enrol by 30 December 2026 and complete by 30 December 2029[1]. After the enrolment date, no new learners can start this qualification.

Funding: the skills levy and B-BBEE skills development

Training your Cape Town team also fits into your skills-development planning:

  • Skills Development Levy (SDL): the levy is 1% of the leviable amount (total remuneration). Employers whose leviable amount over the next 12 months will not exceed R500,000 are exempt[2].
  • Mandatory grant: if your Workplace Skills Plan and Annual Training Report reach your SETA by 30 April and your levies are up to date, you can claim back 20% of the levies paid. Unclaimed mandatory grant money moves to discretionary funding by 15 August[3]. Planned project management training belongs in that plan.
  • B-BBEE skills development: under the amended generic Codes, the skills development target is 6% of the leviable amount. That is 3.5% on learning programmes for black people and 2.5% on bursaries for black students at higher education institutions, plus 0.3% for black employees with disabilities[4]. Sector codes may differ. Whether a course counts depends on who attends and how the spend is recorded, so BOTI cannot promise points.
  • One bill, whole team: because we train your group together at your premises, you avoid travel time and per-seat venue costs.

This is general guidance. Your accountant or B-BBEE verification agency should confirm how it applies to your business.
