Effectively Manage Human Resources & Labour Relations (2 days)
Supervisors and managers handle the everyday people side of their job – hiring, conditions of employment, reviews and discipline – correctly and within the law.
Line managers make most of the decisions that land an employer at the CCMA: an interview question that should not have been asked, overtime that was never agreed, a warning given without a fair process. This two-day HR and labour relations training gives supervisors and managers the essentials they need to manage people fairly, consistently and within South African labour law, without having to become HR specialists.
Day one covers the line manager's HR role and the legal basics: what the LRA, BCEA, Employment Equity Act and health and safety laws expect of a supervisor, the conditions of employment every employee is entitled to, and a sound, fair way to recruit and select new staff. Day two covers managing people once they are in the job: setting standards and running a performance review, applying the disciplinary code, taking part in a hearing, handling grievances and knowing what happens when a dispute is referred to the CCMA.
The course is practical and case-based, with short exercises on real workplace situations. It is general guidance on South African labour law, not legal advice.
