Training Advice
Servant Leadership Training (1 day)
Managers learn to lead by putting their people first – sharing power, removing obstacles and developing others – while still holding the team to high standards.
Servant leadership turns the usual picture upside down: the leader's main job is to help the team succeed, not to be served by it. It is not a soft option. Leaders who listen, develop their people and share decision-making tend to earn more trust, keep good staff longer and get stronger commitment. Servant leadership training shows managers how to apply the idea in a real workplace without giving up authority or accountability.
This one-day course defines servant leadership and compares it with democratic, laissez-faire and path-goal approaches. Delegates practise the habits that make it work – listening, empathy, persuasion instead of command, delegating real responsibility and knowing when to step in – and look honestly at the barriers, from constant criticism to doing everything yourself. The afternoon covers building a team community, motivating and mentoring people, and developing the next generation of leaders, and ends with a personal self-reflection plan.
Short case studies after each topic keep the discussion practical, and the ideas sit comfortably with the South African value of ubuntu: leadership as service to the group.
