National Certificate: Management (NQF Level 3)
New and aspiring team leaders gain a nationally recognised NQF Level 3 qualification and the everyday skills to run a team well.
The step from team member to team leader is where many good employees struggle: suddenly they run meetings, keep records, induct new staff and answer for the team's results. The National Certificate: Management is a management NQF level 3 qualification (SAQA ID 83946, 120 credits) that builds those skills, both for people already employed and for those who intend to follow a career in management.
Delivered as 24 contact days over 12 months, it introduces some management theory and applies it through a well-developed range of practical skills. Core unit standards cover team performance planning, formal meetings, team records, the team leader's role in meeting standards, inducting new team members, time and work processes, the structure of the organisation, management functions, motivating a team, current affairs in your business sector and HIV/AIDS in the workplace. Fundamentals build spoken and written communication, reading and mathematical literacy. Electives add personal decision-making and analysing media developments that affect your industry.
BOTI delivers the qualification under its Services SETA accreditation (12582). It remains open under the transitional arrangements for pre-2009 qualifications, with new enrolments closing on 30 June 2028, and it gives flexible access to further learning and higher-level management qualifications.
