Training Advice
Knowledge Management (Unit Standard 252044) (2 days)
Managers who understand what knowledge their unit holds, how well it is managed compared with the rest of the organisation, and how to put a practical plan in place to capture and share it – with 6 accredited credits.
When an experienced employee resigns or retires, much of what they know walks out of the door with them. This accredited knowledge management course covers unit standard 252044 (NQF Level 5, 6 credits), a core unit standard of the National Certificate: Generic Management (SAQA ID 59201), which BOTI delivers under its Services SETA accreditation.
Day one builds the foundation: what drives the knowledge economy, the difference between tacit and codified knowledge, knowledge assets and intellectual capital, and the mechanisms, strategies, policies and structures that make knowledge management part of how an organisation works. Delegates then analyse their own unit's practices against the organisation's policies, compare them with other units and report on strengths, weaknesses and improvements.
Day two is about action. Delegates define the unit manager's role alongside other role players, build an operational plan with activities, timelines, measures, costs, benefits and risks, and learn how to promote it so that the team commits to creating and sharing knowledge.
