Training Advice
Labour Relations for Managers (Unit Standard 116394) (3 days)
Managers and business owners who put sound HR policies in place, hire on proper contracts, run fair disciplinary processes and performance reviews, and apply South African labour law with confidence – with 9 accredited credits.
Most labour disputes start with a missing policy, a vague contract or a disciplinary hearing that was not run properly. This accredited labour relations course covers unit standard 116394 (NQF Level 5, 9 credits), a core unit standard in the FETC: New Venture Creation (SAQA ID 66249), which BOTI delivers under its Services SETA accreditation.
Day one covers HR policies on employment equity, skills development, performance evaluation, recruitment and selection, training and remuneration, followed by job descriptions, recruitment and selection panels, salary negotiations and employment contracts that reflect the right terms and conditions.
Day two deals with discipline: classifying offences, investigating charges, preparing and presenting cases, questioning witnesses, mitigation and appeals, and building a disciplinary policy that is lawful, fits the business and is reviewed regularly. Day three covers performance evaluation committees and the review process, and putting the Labour Relations Act, the Basic Conditions of Employment Act, the Employment Equity Act and related laws into practice.
