The programme takes staff from project initiation to closure, using a practical, hands-on approach. Core content includes:

- Planning and scheduling: work breakdown structures, sequencing, realistic timelines and milestone planning.
- Budgeting and cost control: estimating, tracking spend and reporting variances.
- Risk and issue management: identifying, rating and reducing risks before they derail delivery.
- Stakeholder and communication management: managing sponsors, suppliers and teams, and keeping everyone informed.

It offers the Occupational Certificate: Project Manager (SAQA ID 101869), an NQF Level 5 qualification of 240 credits[1]. It ends in an External Integrated Summative Assessment (EISA), and the QCTO issues the certificate.
BOTI also holds Services SETA accreditation (12582) for legacy SETA qualifications that are still in their teach-out period. If accreditation matters for your reporting or for a specific tender requirement, tell us when you request a quote. We will confirm which route fits your group.
Last dates for new enrolments: for the Project Manager qualification (SAQA ID 101869), enrol by 30 December 2026 and complete by 30 December 2029[1]. New learners must enrol before the enrolment date shown.
Funding: Skills Development budget and B-BBEE skills development
Employer funding for training is often more available than organisations assume, because it can come from money you may already be setting aside.
- Skills Development Levy (SDL). Employers pay the SDL to SARS at 1% of the leviable amount (total remuneration). Employers whose leviable amount over the next 12 months will not exceed R500,000 are exempt[2]. Structured training is what the levy system is designed to support.
- Mandatory grant. Your SETA pays back 20% of the levies you paid as a mandatory grant. To qualify, you must submit your Workplace Skills Plan and Annual Training Report by 30 April and be up to date with levy payments. Unclaimed mandatory grant money moves to discretionary funding by 15 August[4].
- B-BBEE skills development. Under the amended generic Codes, the overall skills development target is 6% of the leviable amount. That is made up of 3.5% on learning programmes for black people and 2.5% on bursaries for black students at higher education institutions, plus 0.3% for black employees with disabilities[3]. Sector codes may differ. Spend on training black employees may count towards the learning-programme target. This matters for organisations bidding for public-sector and SOE work in Tshwane.
