Training Advice
Build Winning Teams to Achieve Company Objectives (1 day)
Team leaders who can turn a group of people into a working team – and keep it working when people, projects and pressures change.
Teams rarely stay still. New people join, projects reshuffle staff and restructures merge departments, and each change sends the team back to square one. This one-day team building training gives supervisors and team leaders a practical way to build their team deliberately: what makes a group a team, how teams develop, and what the leader has to do at each stage.
The day follows the life of a real team. Delegates learn the main types of team and Tuckman's forming, storming, norming and performing model, then work out where their own team is now. They plan team-building activities that serve a real goal rather than a day out that changes nothing, practise running shorter and more useful meetings, and use the Six Thinking Hats to solve a problem as a group and reach agreement.
It is activity-based and built for South African workplaces, where teams often span languages, cultures, sites and shifts. Delegates leave with a simple team health check and a one-page plan for their next 30 days. Managers who lead several teams, or who need to measure team effectiveness in depth, should look at the two-day version of this course.

Frequently asked questions
Can you run this course at our offices?
Yes. Most groups are trained at the client's premises anywhere in South Africa; we can also host it at a BOTI venue or deliver it live online.
Can our whole team attend together?
Yes – and it works well. An intact team practises the model on its own real situation and leaves with a shared plan. Groups of up to 20 can attend; the price per delegate drops as the group grows.
Is it accredited?
No – it is a non-accredited short course and delegates receive a BOTI certificate of attendance.
How is this different from the two-day course?
This one-day version is for supervisors and team leaders running one team and focuses on practical tools. The two-day Build Winning Teams to Achieve Company Objectives course is aimed at middle managers and adds team dynamics in depth, leadership styles and a full team effectiveness evaluation.
Is this a fun day out or a training course?
It is a training course with activities built in. Delegates take part in short team exercises, but the focus is on how to plan and lead team building back at work, not on the activities themselves.
Can you run this course in Johannesburg, Cape Town or Durban?
Yes. We train on site at your offices in Johannesburg, Pretoria, Durban, Cape Town and across South Africa, at a BOTI venue in Johannesburg, or live online so a team spread over several offices can attend together.
