Supplier management training teaches procurement, vendor and supply chain teams to select, onboard, measure and develop suppliers. BOTI does not sell supplier management software or a supplier performance management platform. It trains the people who run supplier reviews, service level agreements and contracts, through its supply chain, procurement and contracts courses.
At your offices anywhere in South Africa, live online or at a BOTI venue.

The core course for vendor management is the 3-day Service Provider Management Course. Organisations that develop small suppliers as part of their B-BBEE Supplier Development and Enterprise Development work can also use BOTI’s self-paced e-learning or live virtual training. Both options include reporting for your records.
BOTI offers two approaches to developing supplier and enterprise capability. Both help suppliers become more competitive. Supplier Development and Enterprise Development are elements of the B-BBEE scorecard, so the training also gives you a record of real development activity.
This option develops the suppliers in your value chain throughout the year, and it scales to large supplier bases.

Supplier and vendor management training turns ad hoc buying into a disciplined, measurable process. It gives your team frameworks to select the right suppliers, agree clear terms, manage performance and reduce risk across the supplier lifecycle. The skills below can be delivered as a focused live programme or put together from the self-paced platform.
| Capability area | What your team learns |
|---|---|
| Supplier selection & onboarding | Defining requirements, evaluating bids, due diligence, onboarding checklists |
| Contracts & SLAs | Building service level agreements, terms that protect the buyer, change control |
| Performance management | KPIs, scorecards, review cadences, corrective action |
| Risk & compliance | Supply risk assessment, continuity, dependency mapping |
| Cost & value | Total cost of ownership, negotiation, value-for-money tracking |
| Relationship management | Segmentation, communication, dispute resolution |
Programmes draw on BOTI’s existing modules in Contract Management, Risk Assessment, Supply Chain Management, Negotiation and Project Management. Your team builds a complete vendor management skill set rather than learning isolated topics.
Supplier performance management is the part of the lifecycle where many organisations struggle. Contracts get signed, but nobody measures delivery against them. Training in this area helps your team to:
This training is designed for South African organisations buying training for their teams. It suits:
Programmes can be tailored to your sector, your supplier base and how mature your procurement function is.
Many organisations search for a supplier management platform or supplier performance management software first. BOTI does not sell or implement software. A platform stores supplier data, scorecards and contract dates, but your team still decides what to measure, how to run review meetings and when to escalate. Without those skills, the system fills up with data that nobody acts on.
Training works alongside whatever system you use, whether that is a dedicated platform, your ERP or a well-built spreadsheet. Delegates learn to:
If your scorecards are kept in Excel, BOTI’s Excel courses can help your team build cleaner trackers and dashboards.
Investing in your suppliers is good practice. Under the B-BBEE Codes, Enterprise and Supplier Development is a priority element of the scorecard. Developing the capability of qualifying small and micro enterprises in your supply chain is one way to show genuine development activity.
If you tender for public contracts, a stronger supply chain also supports your bids. Under the 2022 preferential procurement regulations, preference points are awarded against specific goals set by the organ of state, on the 80/20 or 90/10 split, rather than on a generic B-BBEE level alone.
BOTI’s monthly reporting and attendance certificates give you a record of the training delivered. This is general guidance to help you plan. Confirm scorecard and tender treatment with your verification agency or B-BBEE advisor.

Supplier management training teaches procurement and vendor teams to select, onboard, manage and develop suppliers across the full supplier lifecycle. BOTI delivers it as in-house training, at its venue in Sunningdale, Johannesburg, live online, or as self-paced e-learning for supplier development programmes.
Yes. BOTI’s Service Provider Management Course runs over 3 days and covers how to appoint, manage and review service providers. It can be combined with the Mastering Service Level Agreements and Contracts course or the Contract Management Course, and tailored to your sector and supplier base.
No. BOTI is a training provider. Its courses teach the skills a supplier performance management platform depends on: setting KPIs, building supplier scorecards, running review meetings and agreeing corrective action. BOTI’s e-learning platform is for developing suppliers’ skills, not for managing supplier performance data.
BOTI is a QCTO-accredited Skills Development Provider, but supplier and vendor management is delivered as a non-accredited professional skills programme, and delegates receive a BOTI certificate of attendance. If you need a QCTO occupational certificate, ask about the Occupational Certificate: Project Manager (SAQA ID 101869, NQF Level 5), which has a last date for enrolment of 30 December 2026.[1]
Enterprise and Supplier Development is an element of the B-BBEE scorecard, and developing the skills of small suppliers in your value chain is one way to build genuine development activity. Attendance records and reports help you document it, but scorecard treatment depends on your verification agency, so confirm it with them before you plan.
Legal and financial points above are general guidance, not formal advice. For B-BBEE scorecard, tender and funding decisions, consult your verification agency or accredited advisor.
To build vendor and supplier management skills in your team, book the Service Provider Management Course. If your team needs a QCTO occupational certificate, see the Occupational Certificate: Project Manager. Training runs in-house at your premises, at BOTI’s venue in Sunningdale, Johannesburg, or live online. This course is not accredited. It is delivered as a professional skills programme, and delegates receive a BOTI certificate of attendance. Call BOTI on 011 882 8853 or email [email protected].
