Entrepreneurship Training Course (1 day)
Delegates leave with a tested business idea, a business plan outline and a clear list of next steps to start or grow their business.
Most small businesses that fail do so for avoidable reasons: an idea nobody tested, no written plan, too little cash or the wrong first hires. This one-day entrepreneurship training walks aspiring and new business owners through the whole journey in the right order, from deciding whether an idea is viable to growing a business that already trades. It builds the entrepreneurial skills that matter most in the first years: spotting and testing business opportunities, planning and funding the start, and choosing a growth strategy once the business trades.
The morning covers the start: testing the idea against your own skills and the market, sizing up the competition, choosing a name and legal form, registering the business, and drafting a business plan that a funder will take seriously. The afternoon covers running the business: finding finance, hiring and training the first employees, marketing on a small budget, managing cash flow and a budget, and realistic options for growth such as new products, new locations, franchising and larger contracts.
Each topic uses short South African case studies, and delegates apply every step to their own idea or business. The course suits individuals and corporate groups alike – for example enterprise and supplier development beneficiaries, or employees planning a business for later in their career.
