Measuring Results from Training: Training Evaluation Course (1 day)
Show, with evidence, whether your training is working and what it is worth to the business.
Every year South African organisations spend heavily on training, yet few can say what it achieved beyond attendance registers and end-of-course feedback forms. When budgets tighten, training that cannot show results is the first to be cut. This one-day training evaluation course teaches managers and L&D staff how to plan, measure and report the results of training, so they can prove its value or fix what is not working.
Delegates start with how adults learn, using Kolb's learning cycle and learning styles, and with Kirkpatrick's four levels of evaluation: reaction, learning, behaviour and results. They then learn to focus training through a needs assessment and clear learning objectives, and build an evaluation plan that answers what will be measured, when, how and by whom. The practical core of the day covers measurement before, during and after training: workplace observation and pre-tests, in-session checks and skills assessments, learning journals, goal setting, and supervisor and peer evaluations.
The day ends with the long-term view and the numbers: a basic return on investment formula, tangible and intangible benefits, total cost and a short business case. Delegates leave with an evaluation plan for one of their own programmes, which also supports your Workplace Skills Plan and B-BBEE skills development reporting.
