Office Costs and Supplies Control (Unit Standards 7456 + 13937) (3 days)

Administrators who plan and track budgets, understand how interest, inflation and depreciation change the numbers, and keep office supplies stocked, recorded and properly issued – with 7 accredited credits.

Office budgets drift and stationery cupboards empty out when nobody watches the numbers. This accredited office cost control course combines two unit standards, each taught and assessed on its own: unit standard 7456, a fundamental mathematics unit standard on the money side of personal, business and national issues (NQF Level 3, 5 credits), and unit standard 13937 on monitoring and controlling office supplies (NQF Level 3, 2 credits). Both are part of the National Certificate: Business Administration Services (SAQA ID 67465), and BOTI delivers them under its Services SETA accreditation.

Days one and two follow unit standard 7456: drawing up realistic budgets, recording actual income and spending against them and explaining the variances; working with simple and compound interest, nominal and effective rates, commission, and assets that gain or lose value; and using figures on tax, productivity and the sharing of resources to argue a point about the national economy.

Day three follows unit standard 13937: checking stock levels against what the office needs, keeping supply procedures on track, and issuing supplies on request within agreed times. Delegates leave with a budget template, a stock register and a supplies request routine they can use at work the next day.
