Presenting with Impact: Confident Online and Boardroom Presentations (3-hour online masterclass)

In three hours you rebuild one real presentation, deliver it on camera, get feedback and leave ready to present to a board, a client or a Teams meeting without dreading it.

Most of the presentations that matter at work are short and high-stakes: ten minutes to a board on a budget, a proposal to a client over Teams, a project update to an executive who will interrupt. This presentation skills masterclass is a live, three-hour online session that gives busy professionals a reliable way to plan one of those presentations, deliver it with confidence and handle the questions that follow – online or in the boardroom.

Delegates arrive with a real presentation they have to give soon. In the first hour they strip it down to one message and three supporting points, with an opening that earns attention and a close that asks for a decision. They then work on delivery: managing nerves, using voice, pause and eye contact, and the habits that make the difference on camera – where to look, how to sit, how to share slides without losing the audience. The last hour is practice: a two-minute version delivered on camera in a breakout room, with structured feedback from a peer and the facilitator, and a round of tough questions to field.

It is the fast, practical cut of BOTI's two-day presentation and public speaking courses, built for people who present often but have never been shown how. Everyone leaves with a rebuilt presentation and a short list of things to do differently next time.

    Why this course

    For your organisation

    • Clearer, shorter presentations to boards, clients and management, with a decision at the end
    • Staff who come across well on Teams and Zoom, where much of your client contact now happens
    • Fewer meetings lost to a presenter reading the slides aloud
    • A shared structure for presentations across a team or department
    • A whole team trained in a morning, without travel

    For your delegates

    • A simple structure you can use for any presentation, from a two-minute update to a board paper
    • Techniques that keep nerves under control before and during a presentation
    • Camera habits that make you look and sound confident online
    • Feedback on your own delivery in a small breakout room, not in front of thirty people
    • A rebuilt version of a presentation you actually have to give

What delegates will be able to do

    • Decide the one message and the decision you want from a presentation before you open a slide
    • Structure a presentation around one message and three supporting points, with a strong opening and close
    • Cut a long presentation down to the time senior people will actually give you
    • Manage nerves with practical breathing, preparation and rehearsal techniques
    • Use voice, pace, pause and eye contact deliberately, in the room and on camera
    • Set up camera, lighting, framing and screen sharing so that an online presentation looks professional
    • Build slides that support you rather than replace you
    • Answer difficult, unexpected and hostile questions and bring the discussion back to your point

    Who should attend

Managers, specialists, sales and client-facing staff, project leads and anyone who has to present to colleagues, management, clients or a board – in person or over Teams and Zoom – and wants to do it with more confidence and more effect. It suits first-time presenters and experienced ones who have never had structured feedback. Delegates should bring one real presentation, however rough, to work on during the session.

    Course outline

Live session – One real presentation: plan it, deliver it on camera, handle the questions

Opening: what impact means to the people listening
    • Welcome, how the morning runs, and the presentation each delegate has brought
    • What boards, clients and managers want from a presenter – and what loses them in the first minute
    • Poll: your biggest fear when presenting, and what the group has in common
    • The difference between presenting in the room and presenting on a screen
Building the presentation: one message, three points
    • The decision you want, and the one sentence you need them to remember
    • Three supporting points, in the order the audience needs them
    • An opening that earns attention and a close that asks for the decision
    • Slides that support you: one idea a slide, numbers that can be read, nothing read aloud
    • Workbook exercise: rebuild your own presentation on the one-page planner
Delivering with confidence, in the room and on camera
    • Nerves: what they do to you, and the preparation and breathing that settle them
    • Voice, pace, pause and eye contact – and what each one looks like on a video call
    • Camera, lighting, framing and screen sharing: a two-minute set-up check
    • Presenting to senior people: lead with the recommendation and keep to time
    • Demonstration: the same opening delivered badly, then well
Practice on camera, tough questions and your action list
    • Breakout rooms: each delegate presents a two-minute version on camera
    • Structured peer feedback using the checklist in the workbook
    • Handling the question you cannot answer, the hostile question and the interruption
    • Bridging back to your message and closing after the questions
    • Your personal action list for the next presentation, one-page summary and close

    How it is delivered

Live online on Zoom (or Microsoft Teams), 2.5 to 3 hours – usually 09:00-12:00 with a short break halfway, or at a time that suits your team. From 1 to 500 delegates: the on-camera practice works best in groups of up to about 25, and larger groups take part through demonstrations, polls and chat exercises. Handouts are electronic: a PDF workbook, the one-page presentation planner, a feedback checklist and a one-page summary are emailed before the session. Delegates need a working camera and microphone and should bring a real presentation to work on. Join a public session as an individual, or book it privately for your organisation on a date of your choice.

Certificate: Delegates receive a BOTI certificate of attendance by email. This is a non-accredited masterclass; for a credit-bearing route ask us about BOTI's QCTO skills programmes.

    Frequently asked questions

    How many people can join?

From one delegate to 500 on Zoom. Everyone presents on camera when the group is up to about 25; larger groups follow the demonstrations and take part through polls and chat exercises, or we split them into smaller practice sessions.

    Do we get handouts?

Yes, electronically. A PDF workbook, the one-page presentation planner, the feedback checklist and a one-page summary are emailed before the session.

Can we run it privately for our team?

Yes. Choose the date and time, and tell us the presentations your people give – tender clarifications, monthly reports, client pitches – so that the examples and the practice match.

Do delegates have to present on camera?

Yes, briefly: a two-minute version of their own presentation in a breakout room with one or two colleagues and the facilitator. It is the part people dread most beforehand and value most afterwards. Nothing is recorded unless your organisation asks for it.

    What should delegates bring?

One real presentation they have to give soon, even if it is only a rough deck or a page of notes, plus a working camera and microphone. The session rebuilds that presentation, so they leave with something ready to use.

Is this the same as the Professional Presentations Course?

No. The two-day Professional Presentations Course goes much deeper into designing slides and visual aids, running the discussion and a full round of ten-minute presentations with feedback. The masterclass gives you the structure, delivery and question-handling core in a morning online.
