Interior decorating – is there science in the art?
When one thinks of interior decorating you quite often refer to a specialist to do it. There is, however, a science in this that could be taught. People aren’t necessarily born with the skill or you’ll never obtain it. Through joining a good interior decorating course you’ll be able to become an expert in this field. It requires a lot of work and joining an interior decorating course isn’t for everyone, but if you decide to join an interior decorating course you should go into it with some basic principles.
Interior decorators, just like any company, are a profit based business who can notice value. Therefore it is a good idea for an interior decorator to place any valuable items and investment pieces in clear view in the room. You want to showcase these pieces and they shouldn’t be hidden in a spurt of modesty. These pieces are designed and earned by you to show them off in a certain sense and therefore as an interior decorator you’ll want to make sure that they are front and centre in a room.
The final principle you want to apply is to add height to your room. You can’t physically do this without deconstructing the room, but if you apply some tricks taught to you by a good interior decorating course you’ll be able to add height to your room through illusions. These include having low furniture and adding whilst adding others that have strong vertical lines. A good example of a piece of furniture like this is a large mirror or a large grandfather clock. These are all very tall and will add a dimension of height to your room and will create the illusion that the room is in fact higher than it really is. This will be very pleasing to the eye and is one thing you’ll want to strive towards as an interior decorator as this will truly achieve the ultimate goal: creating a visually pleasing place for people to live in. This, alongside other tricks that are designed to add dimensions to your room such as height are taught to you in a good interior decorating course.
