The major tools of the SQL Server platform i.e. editions, versions, network listeners, and an understanding of services and service accounts.

Craft effective non-clustered indexes.
Design and implement views, stored procedures.
Work with table types, and utilize the MERGE statement to produce procedures (stored) that update information warehouses.
Scalar and table-valued functions
Utilizing appropriate data types when producing tables. Data conversions and production of alias data types.
Understand deadlock situation and impact of isolation levels and application concurrency.
Understand T-SQL error handling code, DML trigger, SQL CLR integration, .NET assembly, storing XML data and schemas in SQL Server.
Undertake XML data queries.
GEOGRAPHY and GEOMETRY data types
Full-text index queries
Principles of good design and practices for SQL Server tables. Using T-SQL to create tables. (NB: partitioned tables are not dealt with).
Utilize the constraints: PRIMARY AND FOREIGN KEY, DEFAULT, CHECK and UNIQUE constraints, and interrogate cascading FOREIGN KEY constraints.
Deciding on composite indexes strategies and appropriate single column.
Heaps and tables with clustered indexes.
Considering the structure of a table.
