Why BOTI for corporate training

  • Accredited where it counts. BOTI is a QCTO-accredited Skills Development Provider for occupational certificates and skills programmes. It also holds Services SETA accreditation (12582) for legacy qualifications that are still in their teach-out period.
    • Legacy qualifications are being phased out one by one under the final Directive published on 17 June 2026[1].
    • The Services SETA qualifications BOTI offers can take new enrolments until 30 June 2028 and must be completed by 30 June 2031[2]. Dates differ per qualification, so confirm the date for your course when you book.
    • Several QCTO occupational certificates close to new enrolment soon. For example, the Occupational Certificate: Office Administrator (SAQA ID 102161) has a last enrolment date of 30 December 2026[3].
  • Scale and depth. 450 courses, from accredited qualifications to non-accredited short courses, so one supplier can cover most of your annual training plan.
  • Proven with large clients. Sasol, Glencore and the City of Johannesburg are among the organisations that have used BOTI to train their staff.
  • Rated by delegates. BOTI holds a Google rating of 4.8 from more than 770 reviews.
  • A Level 1 B-BBEE contributor. This is useful when your procurement team asks for a supplier’s B-BBEE status.

What corporate training costs in South Africa

There is no single price for corporate training, because the cost depends on how you deliver it. Rather than publish a misleading “from” figure, BOTI quotes against your actual requirement. Use the cost drivers below to frame your budget, then request a quote for an exact figure.

What drives the price:

  • Delivery mode. In-house training for a full group is usually better value per delegate. Individual seats suit one or two delegates.
  • Group size. Larger groups lower the cost per delegate. Ask about group and bulk-enrolment discounts.
  • Course length and level. A one-day soft-skills workshop costs less than a multi-day accredited programme.
  • Accreditation. Accredited courses carry assessment and moderation costs that non-accredited workshops do not.
  • Location and travel. In-house delivery outside the main metros may add facilitator travel.
  • Customisation. Tailoring content, case studies or assessments to your business affects the price.

For a deeper breakdown, see our guide on how much corporate training costs in South Africa and the guide to group training and bulk-enrolment discounts.

How to fund corporate training

Many South African employers can recover part of their training spend through the levy-grant system. Training can also count on the B-BBEE scorecard. The main points:

  • Skills Development Levy (SDL).
    • Employers pay SDL at 1% of the leviable amount (total remuneration). Employers whose leviable amount over the next 12 months will not exceed R500,000 are exempt[4].
    • The mandatory grant pays back 20% of the levies you paid. To receive it, you must submit your Workplace Skills Plan and Annual Training Report to your SETA by 30 April and be up to date with levy payments.
    • Unclaimed mandatory grant money moves to discretionary funding by 15 August[5].
  • B-BBEE skills development.
    • Under the amended generic Codes, the overall skills development target is 6% of your leviable amount (not 6% of payroll). This is 3.5% spent on learning programmes for black people plus 2.5% on bursaries for black students at higher education institutions.
    • There is a further 0.3% target for black employees with disabilities[6].
    • Sector codes may differ. Your verification agency decides what counts towards your scorecard.
  • Learnerships. Registered learnerships may also qualify for a tax allowance. Check the current rules with your tax adviser before you plan around it.

This is general guidance, not financial or legal advice. Confirm the specifics with your SETA and your B-BBEE verification agency. BOTI can help you plan an accredited programme that fits your skills plan. Choosing the right partner matters here, so read how to choose an accredited training provider before you commit budget.

Briefing a training supplier

If you need more training suppliers on your list, or you are comparing proposals, give each supplier the same brief. That way you can compare like-for-like. Include:

  • who will attend and how many;
  • the skills gap or business result you want;
  • whether you need an accredited outcome or a certificate of attendance;
  • the delivery mode and preferred dates;
  • any reporting you need for your Workplace Skills Plan or B-BBEE file.

Then compare the outlines, assessment methods, facilitator experience and the total cost per delegate.

Frequently asked questions

How much does corporate training cost in South Africa?

There is no fixed price. Cost depends on the delivery mode (in-house, at BOTI’s venue or live online), group size, course length and whether the course is accredited. In-house training for a full group is usually better value per delegate than buying individual seats. Request a quote with your group size, preferred dates and topic, and BOTI will price your actual requirement.

Are BOTI’s corporate training courses accredited?

Some are. BOTI is a QCTO-accredited Skills Development Provider for occupational certificates and skills programmes, and offers selected legacy Services SETA qualifications until the dates published for each one. Most short courses are non-accredited professional skills programmes. Check the accreditation status on each course page or ask BOTI when you book.

Can BOTI deliver training in-house at our premises?

Yes. BOTI delivers in-house at your premises anywhere in South Africa, including Johannesburg, Midrand, Pretoria, Durban and Cape Town. Training also runs at BOTI’s venue in Sunningdale, Johannesburg, and live online. In-house delivery usually suits groups of six or more who train together.

Can we use our skills development budget or B-BBEE spend to fund training?

In many cases, yes. Employers who pay the Skills Development Levy can claim SETA grants when they submit their Workplace Skills Plan and Annual Training Report on time. Spend on qualifying training can also count towards the skills development element of the B-BBEE scorecard. The funding section above sets out the figures. Confirm the details with your SETA and your B-BBEE verification agency.
