Training Advice
Produce Business Plans for a New Venture (Unit Standard 114592)
Leave with a researched, budgeted business plan for a new venture – and the skills to present it to a funder, a partner or a management team.
New ventures often fail for reasons a sound plan would have exposed early: no real market, an unrealistic budget, missed legal registrations or too little cash to survive the first year. This accredited business plan course takes delegates through building a plan that stands up to scrutiny. It covers unit standard 114592, Produce business plans for a new venture (NQF Level 4, 8 credits), part of the Further Education and Training Certificate: New Venture Creation (SAQA ID 66249).
Over five days, delegates gather and analyse the information a plan needs, set and prioritise business, financial and operational goals, and agree an ethical framework for how the venture will operate. They work through the legal side of starting up in South Africa – choosing a business type and the registrations a venture needs, such as income tax, VAT, PAYE, UIF, COIDA and the Skills Development Levy – and then design marketing, operations and financial plans built on a realistic budget.
The course is a working week: each delegate develops a plan for a real or realistic venture and presents it for feedback on the final day. Along the way it tackles the economic and administrative obstacles that stop many ventures from starting or surviving. It ends with BOTI's accredited assessment; delegates found competent earn the unit standard's 8 credits.
