Anger Management Course (1 day)
Delegates learn to notice anger early, stay in control and deal calmly with angry colleagues and customers.
An outburst in a meeting, an email sent in frustration, a supervisor who shouts at the team – uncontrolled anger damages working relationships fast, and it often ends in complaints, grievances, disciplinary hearings or resignations. Anger itself is normal and can be useful: it tells us something matters. The problem is what happens next. This anger management course teaches delegates to notice anger early and choose their response.
Over one practical day, delegates work through the anger cycle and the body's fight-or-flight response, recognise the five anger styles from aggressive to assertive, and practise techniques that work in the moment: coping thoughts, breathing and relaxation, and the alter, avoid, accept approach. They learn to separate the person from the problem, say what is wrong with I-statements and turn a heated disagreement into a problem both sides can solve.
Delegates complete a short self-assessment at the start and compare it at the end, map their own hot buttons and leave with a personal anger plan and an anger log to keep using. The last session covers the other side: calming an angry colleague or customer, and knowing when to step back. This is skills training, not therapy – where anger is linked to deeper problems, the facilitator points delegates to your employee assistance programme or a professional.

Who should attend
Employees at any level who want better control of their temper, supervisors and team leaders who manage under pressure, front-line and call-centre staff who deal with angry customers, and managers or HR practitioners looking for a practical, non-clinical programme to refer staff to. Frequently asked questions
Can you run this course at our offices?
Yes. Most groups are trained at the client's premises anywhere in South Africa; we can also host it at a BOTI venue or deliver it live online.
Is this therapy or counselling?
No. It is a practical skills workshop. The facilitator does not diagnose or treat anyone, and delegates whose anger is linked to deeper issues are encouraged to use your employee assistance programme or see a mental health professional.
Can we send one employee rather than a whole team?
Yes – from one delegate to groups of 20. If you are referring an individual, tell us beforehand so the facilitator keeps the examples general and the discussion focused on skills.
Is it accredited?
No – it is a non-accredited short course and delegates receive a BOTI certificate of attendance.
Can the scenarios reflect our workplace?
Yes. Share two or three typical situations – a tense service counter, a production deadline, a difficult shift handover – and the facilitator builds them into the practice sessions.
Can you run this course in Johannesburg, Cape Town or Durban?
Yes. We train on site at your offices in Johannesburg, Pretoria, Durban, Cape Town and across South Africa, at a BOTI venue in Johannesburg, or live online so a team spread over several offices can attend together.
