Negotiating to Resolve Conflict (Unit Standard 117853) (3 days)

Managers who prepare thoroughly, negotiate in a way that keeps relationships intact, record agreements properly and learn from every negotiation – with 8 accredited credits.

Whether the issue is a workplace dispute, a supplier disagreement or a union demand, the outcome of a negotiation is usually decided before anyone sits down. This accredited negotiation skills course covers unit standard 117853 (NQF Level 5, 8 credits), part of the National Certificate: Generic Management (SAQA ID 59201), which BOTI delivers under its Services SETA accreditation.

Day one is about preparation: the purpose and issues, strategy and tactics, negotiating ranges, stakeholders and mandates. Day two is the negotiation itself, practised in realistic role plays: conduct, communication, exploring options and going back for a revised mandate when needed.

Day three covers closing the deal, recording and sharing agreements, and evaluating the process so that the next negotiation goes better.
