Load Shedding Training: Staying Productive During Power Outages (2 days)

Your team keeps working when the power goes off – with the right backup, connectivity, schedules and people plans already in place.

Power cuts in South Africa come and go, but every round of load shedding, load reduction or local substation failure costs businesses lost hours, damaged equipment, lost data and frustrated staff and customers. This load shedding training helps organisations plan for outages instead of reacting to them, so that a power cut means a change of routine rather than a lost day.

Day one is about keeping operations running: choosing between inverters, UPS devices, solar and gas, planning around published schedules, keeping the internet and Wi-Fi up, using cloud tools and backups, and organising remote work and shift rosters around outages. Day two is about people and problems: managing change, stress and frustration, keeping morale and motivation up, re-planning when schedules change at short notice, protecting equipment from power surges, keeping security systems running and getting staff to and from work safely when traffic lights are out.

The course is practical and non-technical. Delegates leave with a draft outage plan for their own team or site, and a clearer brief for any supplier quoting on backup power.

    • A written outage plan for your team or site
    • Less downtime and fewer missed deadlines during power cuts

    Frequently asked questions

Can you run this course at our offices?

Yes. Most groups are trained at the client's premises anywhere in South Africa; we can also host it at a BOTI venue or deliver it live online.

    How many people can attend?

From one delegate to groups of about 20. The price per delegate drops as the group grows – see the price table, or ask us for a quote.

    Is it accredited?

No – it is a non-accredited short course and delegates receive a BOTI certificate of attendance.

Is this still relevant when there is no load shedding?

Yes. Load shedding can return at short notice, some areas still face load reduction, and local outages from cable theft or failed infrastructure are common. The same plan covers all of them.

Will the course tell us which backup system to buy?

It explains the options and how to size them, so you can brief suppliers properly and compare quotes. It does not replace a site assessment and design by a registered installer.

Can you run this course in Johannesburg, Cape Town or Durban?

Yes. We train on site at your offices in Johannesburg, Pretoria, Durban, Cape Town and across South Africa, at a BOTI venue in Johannesburg, or live online so a team spread over several offices can attend together.
