Training Advice
Sage 50cloud Pastel Xpress Training Course (3 days)
Small-business owners and bookkeepers who can set up Sage Pastel Xpress and run their own books in it with confidence.
Sage Pastel Xpress is the entry-level edition many small businesses start on, with a simpler feature set than Sage Pastel Partner. It still has to be set up properly, or invoices, VAT and the general ledger go wrong from the first month. This three-day Sage Pastel Xpress training course is hands-on throughout and is pitched at small businesses that keep their books in-house.
Day one installs the software, explores the demo company, and creates and sets up a new company. Day two builds the master files: customers, suppliers, inventory and the general ledger, including creating and editing general ledger accounts. Day three is processing: customer and supplier documents, the cash book, the View menu for enquiries and reports, and sundry processing such as journals and period-end tasks.
Delegates practise in the demo company first and then set up a practice company that mirrors their own business, so they go back to work ready to start.

Frequently asked questions
Can you run this course at our offices?
Yes. Most groups are trained at the client's premises anywhere in South Africa; we can also host it at a BOTI venue or deliver it live online.
Is this official Sage training?
No. BOTI is an independent training provider, not a Sage training partner. Delegates receive a BOTI certificate of attendance.
Should we train on Xpress or Partner?
Train on the edition your business runs. Xpress suits smaller businesses with straightforward needs; growing businesses on Sage Pastel Partner should book the four-day Partner Intermediate course instead.
Do delegates need bookkeeping knowledge?
Yes, the basics. If not, start with Sage Pastel Introduction to Bookkeeping Fundamentals (2 days).
Is it accredited?
No – it is a non-accredited short course and delegates receive a BOTI certificate of attendance.
How many people can attend?
From one delegate to groups of about 20. The price per delegate drops as the group grows – see the price table, or ask us for a quote.
